Health Care

The disgusting and unforgiveable reality is that over 45 million Americans, and untold numbers of people around the globe, have no health care. The much-discussed and much agonized-over "health-care crisis" in America is yet another artifical problem, caused not by any real shortage of resources, but by the natural operaton of the money-and-profit system.

Consider: is there a shortage of doctors in America? A shortage of hospitals, clinics, or other medical facilities? A shortage of medical technologies? Obviously not. Why, then, are so many Americans uninsured?

The single reason a colossal chunk of the American population has no health insurance is simpy that it can't afford it. And remember, under capitalism, if you cannot afford a product or service, you simply won't get it--no matter what it is, how badly you need it, or how immoral it would be to deny it to you. Food, clothing, shelter, health care, transporation, anything and everything; if a corporate owner or other businessperson can't make a profit on your need, they will not fill that need. Sorry, buddy; tough luck. This is the iron law of capitalism. Love, morality, brotherhood, and religious values all take a distant back seat to the economic compulsion to sell as much as possible, as fast as possible, and increase the bottom line as much as possible, as fast as possible.

The vulgar adage asserts: "Money talks; bullsh*t walks." Unfortunately, under capitalism, "bullsh*t" means anything other than money.

In contrast, a cooperative system would distribute goods and services based on need, as capitalism most decidely does not do. Thus, every citizen would receive free access to health care, as they would receive free access to everything else. Walk in, get your health care, and walk out. No payment, no fee, no bill, no insurance--and no stress. No kidding!

Furthermore, we would actually require less health care, since the elimination of capitalism would concomitantly eliminate so many of our present physical and psychological maladies that are caused by capitalism in the first place.

A topical and essential issue for interested persons or activists to dig into!
